Reasons why your Site Bounce Rate is So High

Having a high bounce rate can be frustrating. After all, you’re getting the leads you need, but you just can’t get them to stay on your site. There could be a few reasons why this is happening, some of which can be found below.

Poor Design and Animation

When designing your site, you need to think about the design, colour and even the message that you are sending. If your home page is full of images that are not necessary, or if you have pages upon pages of text then this can confuse your customers and it may put them off going through the rest of your site. Sometimes the only way for you to get around this would be for you to create a brand-new site. If you’re interested in doing that then Darren Langley may be able to help.

Too Many CTAs

Having a CTA is crucial if you want to convert your customers. If you have too many of them, or if the CTA is not clear then your customers may not know what action you need them to take and as a result, they’ll leave your site. If you want to do something about this then you need to think about the aim of your site. Do you want to get more potential leads? Sell products? Sign people up to your newsletter? Either way, you need to focus on having a single CTA on every page you have, and you also need to make it clear and concise too.

Poor Targeting

If you’re targeting the wrong keywords then this will cause you major issues. The main reason for this is because you’ll probably be trying to target customers who have no interest in what you have to offer. One way for you to get around this would be for you to find out who your target audience are. This is very easy to do, and it will give you the insight you need to choose the right keywords for your site.

Pop-Ups

Bombarding your customers with pop-ups is the best way for you to increase your bounce rate. You need to avoid aggressive advertisements and you also need to avoid having a pop-up as soon as your visitors land on your site. A lot of companies choose to offer discount codes via pop-ups, and this is great, but you should never do it right away. Time your pop-up so that it displays 10 seconds after your customer lands. This way they’ll have had time to digest what’s on the page and they’ll also be able to know if they’re actually interested in making a purchase or not.

Slow Loading Times

Your site should load up in 2 seconds or less. If it doesn’t then this could be the reason why you have such a high bounce rate. Your site could be slow for a number of reasons, whether it’s because you have too many images or even because you’re with a bad host. Either way, a site test is the best way for you to find out for sure so you can make the right changes.
