Meeting Room Design Mistakes That Will Stop Even Your Best Pitches From Securing Sales

Picture this scene – you’ve been up all night practising a pitch that you know is set to hit the mark. You pull out all of the stops in the meeting, and you’re just waiting for that client to bite. But, your words fall on flat ears, and those clients leave without even the murmurings of a sale. You rack your brains for what might have gone wrong, and you settle for the possibility that your pitch wasn’t as strong as you believed it to be. But what if your pitch wasn’t the problem after all?

Your meeting space is often just as impactful on client sales as your pitch. Overlook this key focus, and clients might not even be able to focus on your pitch. Make sure that doesn’t happen by addressing these costly meeting room mistakes ASAP.

# 1 – Neglecting Technology

Neglecting meeting room technology is now one of the worst mistakes you can make when it comes to sending the wrong impression. After all, with meeting tech options now including everything from smart booking systems to video conferencing software, and even AI room automation, your little pull-down projector screen doesn’t exactly set you up as a major player.

This isn’t to say that you need to sink thousands into meeting technology that’ll take a while to justify its cost. But thinking about client wants, needs, and interests could help you lean into the best tech stack for your specific meeting requirements. Then, investing is sure to impress!

# 2 – A Poor Hosting Setup

Sometimes, meeting room mistakes are more about what you don’t offer than the fancy equipment you do have. Remember, clients who are attending a meeting are your guests. And, you wouldn’t leave your guests at home without anything to eat or drink, would you?

Well, much the same rules apply when hosting clients. Meeting room additions like a water dispenser, coffee machine, and snack table all prove that you care about meeting your client’s needs. This may be a subtle message, but it’s sure to feed into the client’s psyche, and it could well secure your sale alongside a great pitch.

# 3 – Uncomfortable Seating

We’ve previously spoken about the importance of comfortable seating for wellness in the office, and this should also extend to your meeting setup. You certainly shouldn’t expect clients to perch on hard, cold plastic chairs for a pitch that could last an hour plus. By the time you’re finished, they’ll probably be far more concerned with their numb bums than they are your products. They’ll also probably avoid ever coming back for a repeat meeting!

Make sure that doesn’t happen by focusing your attention on meeting room chairs that are every bit as comfortable as your ergonomic in-office options. Adjustable, ergonomic seating is especially beneficial in an office space, as it allows clients to fully tailor their comfort levels throughout the meeting.

Your pitch is a key part of securing sales, but you can also strengthen your prospects by addressing these key meeting room issues.
